We have another one that went live a couple weeks ago. And one, possibly two more, going live next week too. From my POV, this is probably the fractional role that’s most “on the rise” right now. Fractional Sales roles are also, I think, the most unique of all. Transparently - I’m struggling a bit to help clients approach hiring fractional sales leaders correctly. The compensation includes commission This is the most obvious unique factor. Companies often want to compensate this role with commission. I think that’s fair! But what is the right commission structure? Particularly given that most companies hiring fractional are early-stage startups and SMBs, they likely don’t have much of a proven sales model yet. So how the hell do you calculate what commission is fair? How can I better help clients think about their compensation expectations for fractional sales roles? They want your rolodex For both of the Sales Lead roles we’re launching today, both clients are looking for someone that can hit the ground running on day one via the fractional's existing relationships in the industry. (Coincidentally both happen to be selling to offices / HR teams / employer benefits programs.) This makes sense to me. A big part of the fractional value prop is to be valuable from day 1 and leverage your past experiences to help your client level up quickly. Both of the sales roles have valid needs to opportunistically explore new potential channels for their growth, and want someone who can speedrun them towards validation. But there’s also a fine line here - something doesn’t feel quite right about a role that ONLY wants you for your introductions (neither of the roles we’re launching are like this, I’m just talking theoretically) So where is the line then? What amount of using your rolodex makes sense in a fractional role?
