        Degree of the resulting matrix.

    Returns
    -------
    vander : ndarray.
        The Vandermonde matrix. The shape of the returned matrix is
        ``x.shape + (deg + 1,)``, where the last index is the power of `x`.
        The dtype will be the same as the converted `x`.
