        Parameters

        freq : pandas.DateOffset, pandas.Timedelta or string, optional
            Frequency increment to shift by.
            If None, the index is shifted by its own `freq` attribute.
            Offset aliases are valid strings, e.g., 'D', 'W', 'M' etc.

        Returns
        -------
        pandas.DatetimeIndex
            Shifted index.
