The City Nature Challenge is returning to York on = the 25th-28th April this year for our second time participating! This year, York International Women=E2=80=99s Week (YIWW) marks Intern= ational Women=E2=80=99s Day with a vibrant programme of events celebrating = the tagline, =E2=80=98Looking Forward, Moving Forward.=E2=80=99 The 2025 Programme offers a range of in-person a= nd ONLINE events.

Queer-ying the Museums: Saturday 1 March

The Royal Armouries, Leeds, = as part of LGBTQ+ History Month, is offering free events all day on Saturda= y 1 March. From a museum mansplaining drag king and self-defence workshops,= to queer history tours of our collection and thought-provoking talks, we= =E2=80=99ve got a host of activities for everyone to enjoy to round off LGB= TQ+ history month.

The Vanishing Forest: Sunday 2 March @ 11am

Written as a continuatio= n of A Midsummer Night's Dream, English Touring Opera's The Vanis= hing Forest uses spells, puppetry and mystical flowers to educate and i= nspire children on the issue of deforestation, through a brand-new Shakespe= are infused opera. The Dark Matters: Tuesday 4 March @ 6.30pm

Join at York St John Cre= ative Centre for an evening of discussion, performance reflections and film= with leading dark sky experts, artists and academics to hear how cities ca= n become dark sky-friendly.
